My approach towards therapy

As a therapist, I see myself as a facilitator, using a number of therapeutic techniques to guide my clients towards the direction of achieving their desired goals. I believe that most of us have the inner potential and resources to achieve change; sometimes we just need assistance to unlock our true potential.

I use a holistic approach to help you overcome your particular problem or condition so that you can positively move forward with your life. Using hypnotherapy, I will help you access your inner resources so that you can achieve your desired goals; I also use other therapeutic techniques alongside hypnotherapy, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Stress Management, Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Neuro-linguisitic programming (NLP).

I hold the following qualifications obtained from the Academy of Clinical and Medical Hypnosis training school, approved by the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and a higher education qualification from Birmingham City University (BCU).

Professional Membership

Established in 1973, the National Council of Hypnotherapy is one of the largest organisations for registered Hypnotherapists in the United Kingdom. All practitioners are bound by the organisation's Code of Ethics and Conduct and are obliged to maintain comprehensive Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance. In accordance with these guidelines, my aim is to treat you as swiftly and effectively as possible. All members receive ongoing supervision and are required to improve their level of skills and professional competence by undertaking training in continuing professional development.

The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) is the UK regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners. Its key function is to enhance public protection by setting standards for regulation with CNHC. The CNHC “quality mark” is being recognised as the hallmark of quality for the sector. This means that the general public, and those who commission the services of complementary healthcare practitioners, will be able to choose with confidence by looking for the CNHC quality mark.

The Department of Health recommends that members of the public considering hypnotherapy treatment should consult with someone who is CNHC Registered.

CNHC has worked with the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Copy Advice Team, in consultation with CNHC’s Profession Specific Boards (PSBs), to produce the agreed wording listed below to describe Hypnotherapy.

“Hypnotherapy is a skilled communication aimed at directing a person’s imagination in a way that helps elicit changes in some perceptions, sensations, feelings, thoughts and behaviours.

In a typical hypnotherapy session the hypnotherapist and client will discuss the intended alterations or therapeutic goals desired. The hypnotherapist will ask questions about previous medical history, general health and lifestyle to decide on the best approach for the individual.

Hypnotherapy may be found to be helpful for those seeking relief from a range of problems and is used alongside a person’s own willpower and motivation to seek a desired goal. It is often used to help relieve anxiety, aid sleeping, address attitudes to weight, and help clients achieve behavioural change to stop smoking. It may also help with minor skin conditions that are exacerbated by stress and confidence issues, and may also be used to enhance performance in areas such as sport and public speaking.”
